West Campus south tree removal project
Attention West Campus Residents!
Housing informed us that they will be starting a new phase of the Landscape Project in West Campus and I wanted to keep everyone up-to-date on what will happen. This is the information that I received about the project...
Our on-going WC Landscape Project is about to start a new phase in the project. The next WC area to be addressed in the southwest side near the community garden/701, 702, 713, 722, 729, & 730.
The initial step is to remove 23 trees from the area. To avoid birds nesting period in these trees, the removal must occur prior to March 1, 2011. If not completed by March 1, 2011, the entire project will be delayed one year. These 23 trees will be replaced with at least 46 new trees that are more appropriate for the area. The plan is to have the tree removal complete by March 1, 2011. Stump grinding will follow the tree removal only to be halted if we come upon Finals weeks. We will have the contractor stop the stump grinding during Finals week. There will be noise during the project.

3-Damage to block walls
4-Sewer line damage
5-Domestic waterline damage
6-Hitting roof during wind storms
7-Girdling
*All trees removed will be replaced with trees appropriately scaled to the buildings and non root invasive variety similar to surrounding planting within the complex.
Our Grounds Maintenance staff will be landscaping this area in early summer 2011. Funding is already secured for the landscaping.
